Embassy of Finland Visits UTCC

On 4 March 2021, UTCC welcomed the delegates from the Embassy of Finland and discussed various areas of collaboration between Finnish and Thai universities.

During the meeting, the following topics were discussed:

  • The Embassy shared the Talent Boost Program, Finland’s startup culture focusing on sustainability
  • Student and faculty exchange opportunities between Finnish universities and UTCC- Connection and development of Double-degree options in the field of Engineering
  • Organization of Finnish Ambassador’s talk session for UTCC students.
  • International internship opportunities for UTCC students

From the Embassy of Finland, Mr. Kimmo Pekari, Special Advisor Trade and Economic Affairs, Ms. Gitta Hagg-Lundvall, Coordinator Talent Boost Program, Ms. Teeranuch Richiravanich, Office Administrator, Team Finland, joined the meeting.

From UTCC, Dr. Jakarin Srimoon, Vice President for International Relations, Ms.Parichart Thammajinda, Head, Office of International Relations, Dr. Nattapan Buavaraporn, Dean, International School of Management, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwannee Adsavakulchai, Program Director, School of Engineering, Dr. Jaratchwahn Jantarat, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, School of Business attended the meeting.

MOU Signing Ceremony with Satit Bilingual School

On 2 March 2021, the MOU signing ceremony between University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Satit Bilingual School (SBS) was organized at UTCC. From SBS, Dr. Apiramon Ourairat, Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Paveena Sitthichoktham, School Director, Mr. Heinrich Fourie, Head of Schools and Ms. Issareeya Thanatkulapa, Secondary School Principal, attended the ceremony.

From UTCC, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sataporn Amornsawadwatana, Sr. Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research, headed the meeting joined by the Office of International Relations and International School of Management team.

After the MOU signing ceremony, the two parties had an in-depth discussion on the upcoming activities plan:

  1. SBS showed keen interest in UTCC’s two-degree program with University of Newcastle (UON), Australia. Under the pandemic situation, it is a good option for the SBS students to earn an Australian degree in Thailand.
  2. UTCC shared the information about guaranteed internship opportunities for the UON two-degree students supported by AustCham Thailand.
  3. UTCC invited SBS students to attend “Design Your Life”, a career-oriented short program from Stanford University at UTCC.
  4. SBS invited UTCC team to SBS campus and promote our programs to SBS students.

UTCC Visited the Embassy of France

UTCC Office of International Relations team had the pleasure of visiting the Embassy of France in Bangkok to meet Guillaume DA, Attaché for Scientific and Higher Education Cooperation and Mr. Sylvain Bano, Director of Alliance Francaise Bangkok.

The French Embassy team offered their support to strengthen the academic ties between the two countries and showed a keen interest to participate in the future cultural activities organized by UTCC to promote French culture and art.

UTCC Visit the Embassy of Vietnam

UTCC Office of International Relations team visited the Embassy of Vietnam in Thailand on 18 December 2020. The newly-appointed ambassador, H.E. Mr. Phan Chí Thành, welcomed the team and discussed the possible future collaborations with UTCC.

H.E. Mr. Phan Chí Thành showed a keen interest to participate in the future International activities organized by UTCC, and also invited UTCC to join the Embassy in the next year’s 45th anniversary of Thailand – Vietnam diplomatic-relations activities.

Ambassador of Mongolia visited UTCC

On 15 December 2020, H.E. Mr. Tumur Amarsanaa, the Ambassador of Mongolia visited UTCC to discuss various areas of collaboration between Mongolian and Thai Universities.

  • Both agreed to build the connections between UTCC and Mongolian universities.
  • The ambassador also suggested UTCC develop customized executive programs for Mongolian diplomats and entrepreneurs and to organize short programs for Mongolian students giving them opportunities to visit Thailand.
  • To attract Mongolian students to study at UTCC, the scholarship opportunities should be considered.

Auckland University of Technology Visited UTCC

On 14 December 2020, a representative of Faculty of Business, Auckland University of Technology (AUT), New Zealand visited UTCC to explore the possible academic cooperation between the two universities focusing on business major.

During the meeting, two possible programs were discussed:

  1. Summer credit-transferable program at AUT
  2. Twinning program at both bachelor’s and master’s degree levels.

From UTCC, Dr. Jakarin Srimoon, Vice President for International Relations; Dr. Rawida Wiriyakitja, Dean of School of Business; Dr. Nattapan Buavaraporn, Dean of International School of Management joined the meeting.

Second Visit to the Embassy of the Russian Federation

On 1 Dec 2020, the UTCC Office of International Relations team visited the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangkok. H.E. Mr. Evgeny Tomikhin the Ambassador of the Russian Federation showed keen interest to develop a closer academic relationship with UTCC and Thailand.

During the discussion:

– The Embassy agreed to build the connection between UTCC and Russian universities.

– The Embassy invited UTCC to participate in the upcoming Rectors Forum, an online event to bring together Russian universities and Thai universities.

– The Ambassador welcomed the idea to have a Russian Culture Day at UTCC.

International Food Festival @ UTCC

Food brings people together as a way to stay connected, celebrate, and to learn about cultures. Office of International Relations organized “International Food Festival @ UTCC”. UTCC students, staff, and guests enjoyed the unique cuisines from China, Korea, and Peru.

H. E. Fernando Quirós, Ambassador of Peru, graced the event and also shared the Peruvian food history. Chefs from each country showcase the art of making Peruvian Causa, Korean Kimchi, and Chinese Dumpling & Oolong Tea. Moreover, the participants learned the cultural background of each food through this event.

The event was supported by the Peru Embassy, North Korean Embassy, and China Cultural Centre in Bangkok.
